IMPROVING THE GERMAN VOCABULARY OF THE GRADE X STUDENTS BY THE MAKE A MATCH TECHNIQUE

Abstract


The research is aimed to improve German vocabulary by employing Make a Match technique for grade X of MAN 2 Yogyakarta.The study is categorized as Classroom Action Research (CAT) which was conducted in two cycles. Each of them consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The strategy of the research was decided collaboratively among the researcher, the teachers, and the students. The subject of this study is grade X of MAN 2 Yogyakarta that consists of 26. To collect the data, this research employed interview, observation, questionnaires, field notes, German vocabulary test, and documentation. All data were examined through descriptive qualitative approach. The findings of the research confirm that Make a Match strategy improves German vocabulary for grade X of MAN 2 Yogyakarta. The score of average improvement in that skills indicates 11.5%. In addition, the technique increases student’s participation into 81%.
