THE EFFECTIVENES OF THE TYPE TEAMS GAMES-TOURNAMENT (TGT) OF THE COOPERATIVE LEARNING IN THE LEARNING OF READING SKILLS IN GERMAN AMONG THE STUDENTS OF GRADE XI SMA NEGERI 1 NGAGLIK SLEMAN

Abstract


This research aimed to find (1) the differences in German reading skill of grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Ngaglik Sleman between those who are taught using type Teams Games-Tournament (TGT) Of The Cooperative Learning and conventional techniques, (2) the effectiveness of the use of type Teams Games-Tournament (TGT) Of The Cooperative Learning for teaching German reading skill for Grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Ngaglik Sleman. This research is a quasi-experiment. The data were collected through a pretest and a posttest. The data were analyzed by means of the t- test. The result showed tobtained=4,542>ttable=2,009 at a significance level α = 0,05. This means that there is a difference in learning achievement German reading skills between the experimental class and the control class. The weight of the effectiveness of 8,2%. The average value of the post-test experimental class was 33,071 higher than the average value of the post-test control class is 30,933. So it can be concluded that the use of type Teams Games-Tournament (TGT) Of The Cooperative Learning is effective in learning the German language skills of reading.
