THE EFFECTIVENESS USING THE TIME TOKEN METHOD IN THE TEACHING OF GERMAN SPEAKING SKILL FOR GRADE X OF SMA NEGERI 1 SEDAYU BANTUL
Abstract
This study aims to determine (1) differences in German speaking skill achivement to the X class students of SMA N 1 Sedayu Bantul between the taught using Time Token method and the conventional method, (2) the effectiveness using Time Token method in German language speaking skill to the X class students of SMA N 1 Sedayu Bantul. This study was a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test control group. The population of this study were all tenth class students of SMA N 1 Sedayu Bantul with the number of the students were 255. Sampling was done using simple random sampling. Obtained two classes, they are X IPA 3 class as the experimental class (30 students) and X IPA 4 class as the control class (33 students). The data was taken by using German speaking test. The content and the validity construct are used for the validity test. Reliability is calculated using K-R 20 formula. Data was analyzed using t-test. The results of this study indicate that 2,461 tarithmatic is bigger than 2.00 ttable in the significant level α = 0.05 and db = 61. It means that there is a significant difference in learning achievement between German speaking skills were taught using the Time Token method and the conventional method. The effectiveness integrity is 9.7%. The average value of the experimental class is 12,150 greater than the control class 11,303. It can be concluded that using Time Token method is more effective in German speaking skills.
