AN EFFORT IN IMPROVING THE STUDENTS` SPEAKING SKILL IN GERMAN OF SMA NEGERI 1 KALIBAWANG OF KULON PROGO THROUGH THE THREE-STEP INTERVIEW TECHNIQUE
Abstract
This study aims to improve: (1)the active participation of learners in teaching of German in feld of language proficiency, and (2) Achievement German speaking skills of students of grade XI IPA 2 at SMAN 1 Kalibawang Kulon Progo through a three-step interview technique . This research is a classroom action research. In this research the researcher and the teacher collaborate to determine the strategy. This research consisted of two cycles, and each cycle consists of four stages: planning, action, observation and reflection. The students of grade XI IPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Kalibawang is the subject of this research. The research data were analyzed by descriptive-qualitative. The data were collected through observations, questionnaires, interviews, field notes, and German speaking skills tests. The result of this research indicate that there is an increase in German speaking skills and the involvement of students in learning the German language. There are 75% of students who active in asking questions, work in teams, and deliver informations/opinions/answers. The average value of German speaking skills of students increased by 42,49% from 56,44 (bevor the cycles) into 80,42 (after the second cycle).It can be concluded that German speaking skills the students of grade XI IPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Kalibawang Kulon Progo increased through the application of a three step interview technique.
