THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING “NUMBERED HEADS TOGETHER” TECHNIQUE IN THE TEACHING OF GERMAN READING SKILL FOR GRADE X STUDENTS OF SMAN 1 PENGASIH KULON PROGO

Abstract


This research aims to identify (1) the difference of academic achievement in the learning reading of German, which is demonstrated by 10th grade students of SMA N 1 Pengasih Kulon Progo: between those who are taught by Numbered Heads Together technique and those who are taught by conventional technique; and (2) effectiveness of Numbered Heads Together technique for German reading skill in 10th grade students of SMA N 1 Pengasih Kulon Progo. This research belongs to quasi experiment. The research design is pretest post-test control group design. Sample is taken by simple random sampling. Instrument validity employs content validity, construct validity, and item validity. Data analysis in this research employs T-test. The result of this research shows that the value of tcounted =4,995, which is greater than the value of ttable = 2.000 on the level of significance α = 0,05 with the value of significance is smaller than 0.05 (0.000<0.05) and db=62. The Effectivennes Point is as much as 8.1%, so that it can be concluded that the use of Numbered Heads Together technique for German reading skill in 10th grade students of SMA N 1 Pengasih Kulon Progo is more effective than the use of conventional technique.
