PENGEMBANGAN POCKETBOOK BERMUATAN NATURE OF SCIENCE UNTUK MENINGKATKAN LITERASI SAINS SISWA SMP THE DEVELOPMENT OF POCKETBOOK CONTAINED WITH NATURE OF SCIENCE TO IMPROVE SCIENTIFIC LITERACY OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract


Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk 1) mengembangkan pocketbook bermuatan nature of science untuk meningkatkan literasi sains siswa SMP yang layak menurut ahli dan guru; dan 2) mengetahui peningkatan literasi sains siswa SMP setelah menggunakan pocketbook bermuatan nature of science. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (R&D) menggunakan 4D Model yang meliputi fase define, design, develop, dan disseminate. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar validasi ahli, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan pembelajaran, lembar respon siswa, dan tes kemampuan literasi sains. Uji pengembangan di lapangan dilakukan dengan menggunakan pocketbook hasil validasi ahli, uji coba dilakukan di SMP N 2 Mlati dengan menggunakan dua kelas yaitu kelas VIII C dan kelas VIII A. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 1) pocketbook bermuatan nature of science dinyatakan layak oleh ahli dan guru IPA yaitu memperoleh nilai A dengan kategori sangat baik dan 2) literasi sains siswa SMP mengalami peningkatan setelah menggunakan pocketbook hasil pengembangan yaitu memperoleh gain skor dengan kategori sedang.

This study was conducted to 1) produce eligible pocketbook contained with nature of science to improve scientific literacy of junior high school students according to experts and teachers; and 2) determine the increasing of scientific literacy of junior high school students. This study is a research & development (R&D) using the 4D Model including define phase, design phase, develop phase, and disseminate phase. The instrument used in this study is a sheet of expert validation of the pocketbook, student questionnaire responses to the pocketbook, learning observation sheets, and scientific literacy test. Development test is done by using the second revision pocketbook, trials is conducted in SMP N 2 Mlati using two classes: VIII C class and VIII A class. The results of this study are 1) pocketbook contained with nature of science is declared eligible by experts and teachers, which achieving grades A (very well category); and 2) scientific literacy of junior high school students has increased after using pocketbook with medium gain category.
