THE IMPLEMENTATION OF MULTICULTURAL EDUCATION AS THE COUNTRY’S DEFENSE EFFORTS IN SHAPING NATIONAL RESILIENCE IN SD KANISIUS EKSPERIMENTAL MANGUNAN

Abstract


This study aims to describe (1) The implementation of multicultural education in the learning system PEKIK in SDKE Mangunan as the country’s defense effort in shaping national resilience, (2) The role of teachers and schools in SDKE Mangunan in implementing multicultural education as the country’s defense effort in shaping national resilience, (3) Oppurtunities and challenge in implementing multicultural education in SDKE Mangunan as the country’s defense effort in shaping national resilience.

This research is a descriptive study using a qualitative approach. The determination of the subjects in this study using purposive technique. Subjects of this study include the Head of SDKE Mangunan, Deputy Head of school curriculum areas SDKE Mangunan, coordinator of student management SDKE Mangunan, the teachers of SDKE Mangunan, and school commite SDKE Mangunan. Data collected by interview, documentation and observation. Mechanical checks the validity of the data in this study using triangulation of sources and analysis of the data in this study includes reduction data, display data, and conclusion.

            The results showed that (1) The implementation of multicultural education in SDKE Mangunan regarded as the country’s defense efforts in shaping national resilience because able to give identity to the child, cultivate an attitude of pride against Indonesia, provides a container for the children to continue to explore with the environment, and provide experience to the child, (2) The role of teachers and schools in SDKE Mangunan in implementing multicultural education is seems in terms of religion, gender, social care, ethnic, language, the difference of ability, and age, (3) The challenges faced in implementing multicultural education SDKE Mangunan among others : the administrative demans of the office and parents, diverse children character, the limitation of the SDM, facilities and insfrastructure in the face of ABK, and the activities of exploration and experimentation. While, the oppurtunities in implementing multicultural education SDKE Mangunan is a model for other schools, an attraction for parents, experimentation and exploration opportunities widely, and make children love to learn.
