EKSISTENSI KOMUNITAS STAND UP COMEDY DI UNIVERSITAS NEGERI YOGYAKARTA

Abstract

There are many types of creativity that can be developed by the students while undergoing
periods of lectures, creativity is shown by the community formed on campus, one of them is
UNY stand-up comedy community. Standup comedy UNY is a stand-up comedy community
first uses the name of the campus in Yogyakarta. UNY stand-up comedy community created
because people need new entertainment that is smart, up-to-date, mental and skill in speaking
in front of audiences, and therefore some broadcaster of radio Magenta tried to create a place
where collected by people who have an interest of stand-up comedy jokes. The purpose of
this research is to know about existence of UNY stand up comedy community and to know
the supporting and inhibiting factors in maintaining the existence of UNY stand up comedy
community.
This research uses descriptive qualitative research method with obsevations, interviews and
documentation.  In  accordance  with  the  purpose  of  research,  the  study  subjects  were
determined  by  purposive  sampling  techniques  to  select  informants  based  on  the  criteria
established that  board  members of  UNY stand  up community and students  from  various
faculties as informants. The validity of the data in this study is strengthened by triangulation.
While  data  analysis  techniques  in  this  study  using  the  Interactive  Model  Miles  and
Hubberman namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion.
The results of this study indicate that the community stand up UNY have a strategy that is
applied  to  maintain  the  existence,  namely;  (1) uses  the social  media, (2)  events  and  Rabu
UNYu  with  Kumpul  UNYu,  (3) held an  annual  event,  and  (4)  attending the  open  mic
invitation. Furthermore, there is also a process of interaction of the UNY stand-up comedy
community, that  interaction  within  the  community  and  interaction  between  communities.
There  are  supporting  factors  and  obstacles  in  an  effort  to  maintain  the  existence  of  the
community  stand  up  UNY.  The  factors  that  support  them;  togethers,  the events  inside  and
outside the community, active and friendly in social media, invitations open mic, and active
control from stand up Indo Jogja. Of factors that are hard to find talents of students in the
stand-up and stand-up is something that is seasonal.
