PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING PADA REMAJA YANG TINGGAL DI PANTI ASUHAN

Abstrak

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi adanya remaja yang harus tinggal di panti asuhan sehingga tidak tinggal bersama dengan keluarganya, padahal orang tua memiliki peran dan fungsi untuk pengadaan psychological well- being anaknya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran psychological well-being remaja yang tinggal di panti asuhan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah dua remaja putri dan dua remaja putra. Proses pengambilan data dilakukan dengan wawancara. Pengujian keabsahan data dengan metode triangulasi dan teknik analisis data menggunakan model interaktif dari Miles dan Huberman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keempat subjek mampu menerima kenyataan bahwa mereka harus tinggal di panti asuhan. Mereka mampu menyadari dan mengelola kelebihan dan kekurangan yang dimiliki, memiliki kemandirian dalam hal mengurus diri sendiri dan mengatur perilaku sendiri, mampu menyadari potensi yang dimiliki, meskipun yang dua orang baru sekedar mengelola potensi yang dimiliki untuk kesenangan saja. Selain itu, keempat subjek memiliki hubungan yang baik dan memuaskan dengan orang lain, hanya saja satu orang subjek kurang memiliki andil dalam mengelola kegiatan di panti. Keempat subjek merasa telah terjadi perubahan positif selama mereka tinggal di panti asuhan, serta memiliki arah dan tujuan yang akan dicapai ke depannya.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the existence of adolescents who live in an orphanage, separated by their families while it’s fundamental for parents to have a role and function for the procurement of psychological well- being of their children. The purpose of this study was to describe the psychological well-being of adolescents living in an orphanage. This research used a qualitative approach. The subjects of the study were two young women and two young men. Interview was used as data collection. The validity of the data was tested with triangulation methods. The analysis techniques was interactive models from Miles and Huberman. The results showed that all four subjects were able to accept the fact that they had to live in an orphanage. They were able to realize and manage their strengths and weaknesses, had independence in terms of taking care of themselves and manage their own behavior, able to realize their full potential even though the two of them only did it for pleasure. In addition, all four subjects had a good and satisfying relationship with others, though only one subject was less involved in managing activities in the orphanage. All four subjects felt that there had been a positive change during their stay in the orphanage, and goals to be achieved in the future.
