HUBUNGAN KECERDASAN EMOSI DENGAN MOTIVASI BERPRESTASI SISWA

Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui tingkat kecerdasan emosi siswa, (2) mengetahui tingkat motivasi berprestasi siswa, dan (3) mengetahui hubungan antara kecerdasan emosi dengan motivasi berprestasi siswa kelas V SD se-gugus 4 Kecamatan Wates. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SD se-gugus 4 Kecamatan Wates sebanyak 248 siswa dengan sampel 153 siswa. Sampel dihitung dengan rumus slovin dan diambil dengan teknik proportional random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode angket. Instrumen diujicobakan pada 40 anak. Uji validitas instrumen menggunakan teknik experts judgment. Analisis data terdiri dari analisis deskriptif dan analisis korelasi product moment dari Pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara kecerdasan emosi dengan motivasi berprestasi dengan nilai koefisien korelasi pada taraf signifikansi 5% sebesar 0,668 (kategori kuat) dan koefisien determinan (sumbangan positif) sebesar 44,6%.

Abstract

This study aims at knowing: (1) the level of emotional intelligence, (2) the achievement motivation level, and (3) the relationship between emotional intelligence and achievement motivation of grade V elementary school in cluster 4 sub-district Wates. This research was a quantitative research with correlation method. The population in this research were the students of grade V elementary school 4 cluster of Wates sub-district as many as 248 students with sample of 153 students. The sample was calculated by the slovin formula and taken by proportional random sampling technique. Technique of collecting data using questionnaire method. Instruments were tested on 40 students. Instrument validity test using the expert judgment technique. Data analysis consists of descriptive analysis and product moment correlation analysis from Pearson. The results show that there is a positive and significant relationship between emotional intelligence with achievement motivation with correlation coefficient value at 5% significance level of 0.668 (strong category) and determined coefficient (effective contribution) value of 44,6%.
