Abstract

This research aims to improve the division word problem solving ability using Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (IRME) in 2nd grade students at Kanisius Wates elementary school. This research was a collaborative Classroom Action Research that used Kemmis & McTaggart models. Data collection used test, observation and documentation. Data analysis used qualitative descriptive and quantitative descriptive techniques. The criterion for the research success was at least ≥80% students has reached the Minimum Exhaustiveness Criteria (71); as well as the teacher and students activities were in Very Good category. Based on these research, the application of IRME can improve the division word problem solving ability of 2nd grade student at Kanisius Wates elementary school. The average value of pre-cycle test was 62,42; the 1st cycle test was 84,46; and the 2nd cycle test II was 87,00. While the percentage of pre-cycle test was 41.67%, the 1st cycle test was 75.00%, and the 2nd cycle test was 87.50%. The percentage of teacher activities was increased from 71,02% (Good) in 1st cycle to 85,23% (Very Good) in 2nd cycle. The percentage of students activities was increased from 68,06% (Good) in 1st cycle to 83,33% (Very Good) in 2nd cycle.
