PENGEMBANGAN LEMBAR KERJA SISWA (LKS) EKSPLORATIF MENGGUNAKAN PENDEKATAN DISCOVERY UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KETERAMPILAN BERPIKIR KRITIS PADA POKOK BAHASAN KALOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF EXPLORATIVE WORKSHEET FOR STUDENTS USING DISCOVERY APPROACH TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS ON THE SUBJECT OF HEAT

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa LKS Eksploratif menggunakan pendekatan discovery yang dapat digunakan untuk mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir kritis pada pokok bahasan kalor siswa kelas X SMA N 1 Ngaglik. Selain itu penelitian ini, juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada pokok bahasan Kalor melalui penggunaan LKS Eksploratif dengan pendekatan discovery. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian pengembangan (R&D) diadopsi dari model 4-D (Define, Design, Develop, dan Disseminate). Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Teknik analisis data secara kualitatif digunakan untuk menganalisis saran dari validator. Teknik analisis secara kuantitatif digunakan untuk menganalisis penilaian validator yang selanjutnya dihitung reliabilitas instrumennya dengan menggunakan precentage agreement, angket respon siswa, keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa, dan keterlaksanaan pendekatan discovery. Analisis keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa pada pretest-posttest menggunakan Normalized Gain sedangkan hasil observasi dianalisis dengan menggunakan persentase ketercapaian keterampilan berpikir kritis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran LKS yang dikembangkan berdasarkan uji validasi ahli dilanjutkan dengan uji operasional terbatas dan uji operasional, masuk pada kategori layak. Pada LKS Eksploratif dengan langkah kegiatan yang mengeksplorasi terlihat bahwa pendekatan discovery mampu meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa. Keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa mengalami peningkatan ditinjau pada nilai gain hasil pretest-postest yang berada pada kategori sedang dengan nilai gain 0,67. Selain itu terdapat peningkatan persentase ketercapaian keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dari hasil observasi. Kata Kunci: LKS Eksploratif, Pendekatan Discovery, Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis
ABSTRACT
This study aims to generate a product in the form of explorative worksheet using discovery approach for students to improve critical thinking skills on the subject of heat of SMA N 1 Ngaglik’s tenth grade students. Furthermore, this study also aims to determine the improvement of the students’ critical thinking skills on the subject of heat by the use of the explorative worksheet using discovery approach. This study employed research and development (R&D) method adopted from 4-D (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) model. The techniques to analyze data in this study are qualitative and quantitative data analysis methods. Quantitative data analysis was employed to analyze suggestions from validators. Qualitative data analysis was employed to analyze validators’ then calculated the reliability using percentage agreement, assessment student-response questionnaire, students’ skills of critical thinking, and the implementation of discovery approach. To analyze students’ skills of critical thinking on pretest-postest, Normalized Gain was utilized, while the observation result was analyzed using the percentage of achievement level of thinking critically. The result of the study indicates that the learning instrument, the students’ worksheet, developed based on the validity tests by experts followed by operational and limited operational test belongs to good category. On the explorative worksheet, through exploratory steps, it is shown that discovery approach can improve the students’ critical thinking skills. Critical thinking skills are improved reviewed from the gain value of the pretest-postest result that is on the medium category, with the value of gain is 0.67. Moreover, there is an increase in the percentage of the achievement level of thinking critically, as seen from the result of the observation.
