EFFECT OF SOCIO SCIENTIFIC ISSUES-BASED INSTRUCTION METHOD ON IMPROVING THE ABILITY OF SAINS LITERATION AND CRITICAL THINKING STUDENT

Abstract


Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengetahui pengaruh metode Socio Scientific Issues-Based Instruction terhadap peningkatan kemampuan literasi sains peserta didik dalam pembelajaran fisika pada materi global warming, dan (2) mengetahui pengaruh metode Socio Scientific Issues-Based Instruction terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik dalam pembelajaran fisika materi global warming. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen. Desain penelitian yang digunakan yaitu Pretest-Posttest Control Group Desaign. Populasi penelitian ini adalah peserta didik kelas XI MIPA di SMA Negeri 2 Klaten tahun pelajaran 2017/2018 sebanyak 179 peserta didik yang terbagi dalam empat kelas. Sampel pada penelitian ini ditentukan dengan teknik purposivesa sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu RPP, LDPD, angket literasi sains, soal tes, lembar observasi keterlaksanaan RPP, dan lembar validasi. Analisis data menggunakan uji GLM-Manova. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) metode SSI-BI dalam pembelajaran fisika berpengaruh untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi sains peserta didik kelas XI MIPA dengan sumbangan pengaruh sebesar 8,6% pada materi pemanasan global dengan kategori peningkatan rendah, (2) metode SSI-BI dalam pembelajaran fisika berpengaruh untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas XI MIPA dengan sumbangan pengaruh sebesar 26,6% pada materi pemanasan global dengan kategori peningkatan sedang. Kata kunci: Metode Socio Scientific Issues-Based Instruction, kemampuan literasi sains, dan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Abstract The research is aimed to: (1) to know the influence of Socio Scientific Issues-Based Instruction method to increase science literacy ability students in learning physics in matter of global warming, and (2) to know the influence of Socio Scientific Issues-Based Instruction method to increase critical thinking ability of students in learning the material physics of global warming. Type of research used is experiment. The research design used is Pretest-Posttest Control Group Desaign. The population of this study is the students of class XI MIPA in SMA Negeri 2 Klaten 2017/2018 lessons as many as 179 students divided into four classes. The sample in this research is determined by purposive sampling technique. The research instruments used are RPP, LDPD, science literacy questionnaire, test questions, observation sheet of RPP implementation, and validation sheet. Data analysis using GLM-Manova test. The result of the research shows that: (1) SSI-BI method in physics learning has an effect to improve science literacy ability of class XI MIPA students with contribution amounting to 8.6% influence on global warming material with low improvement category, (2) SSI-BI method in physics learning has an effect to improve critical thinking ability of class XI MIPA students with contribution amounting to 26,6% influence on global warming material with medium improvement category.
