THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TEXTPUZZLES FOR THE LEARNING OF THE GERMAN READING SKILL OF THE GRADE XI STUDENTS OF SMA N 3 BANTUL

Abstract
The purposes of this research are to find out the effectiveness of Textpuzzles on German reading skill learning of grade XI students of SMA Negeri 3 Bantul. This research is a quasi-experiment, designed as the preand post-test control group. The population of the research is the entire learners in the class XI SMA Negeri 3 Bantul.. Using simple random sampling, 21 members of XI IPS 3 learners are taken as an experimental class and 21 members of XI IPS 2 are taken as the control class, 42 people in total. Research data is obtained from German reading tests on the participants in pre-tests and a post- tests. The validity of the instruments are tested by content validity and construct validity. Data is analysed by t-test. The results of the research show that tcount = 3,244 is greater than ttable = 2,021 with significance level α = 0.05. The average value of post-test experiment class is 22,71 is greater than control class of 20,62 weighing the effectiveness of 10,5%. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of Textpuzzles on German reading skills is effective.
