Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine (1) the significance of differences in learning outcomes listening skills German language learners class XI SMA Negeri 1 Minggir between classes taught by strategy PLAN (Predict, Locate, Add, Note) and taught by conventional strategies, (2) the effectiveness of the use of strategies PLAN (Predict, Locate, Add, Note) to increase reading skills German language learners class XI SMA Negeri 1 Minggir. This research is a quasi experiment. Data obtained by the test read German language skills at Pre-test and Post-test. This study has two variables: the use of strategies PLAN (Predict, Locate, Add, Note) as the independent variable and reading skills in German as the dependent variable. The study population was all students of class XI SMA Negeri 1 Minggir totaling 124 students. The sampling technique by using simple random sampling. Based on the sampling obtained class XI IPA 1 (30 students) as an experimental class and class XI IPA 2 (29 students) as the control class. Test the validity calculated by the formula product moment correlation. Validity test results showed that of the 50 questions contained 40 and 10 valid questions about the fall. Reliability is calculated using the formula K-R 20, with the reliability coefficient of 0.929. Data analyzed with t-test. The results of data analysis using t-test showed that tcount 3.353> ttable 2.00247 with a significance level of 0.05. This shows a significant difference between the control group and the experimental class. Weight of effectiveness was 7.1%. The average value of the end of the experimental class of 77.167 is greater than the control class is 72.241. This indicates that the value of students in the experimental class is better than the value of learner control class. It can be concluded that the use of strategies PLAN (Predict, Locate, Add, Note) is more effective in learning the German reading skills.
