THE EFFECTIVENESS THE CONCEPT MAPPING TECHNIQUE AND THE CONCEPT SENTENCE TECHNIQUE IN THE LEARNING OF WRITING SKILLS IN GERMAN AMONG THE STUDENTS OFGRADE XI SCIENCE CLASS OF SMA NEGERI 1 MINGGIR SLEMAN

Abstract


This study is conducted to identify 3 objectives of the study; they are (1) the effectiveness of using the Concept Mapping technique on students of the eleventh (XI) grade of science class in SMA Negeri 1 Minggir Sleman, (2) the effectiveness of using the Concept Sentence technique on students of the eleventh (XI) grade of science class in SMA Negeri 1 Minggir Sleman, (3) whether there are any significant differences on German writing skill among students who learn to write by using Concept Mapping technique with the ones using Concept Sentence technique of the eleventh (XI) grade of science class in SMA Negeri 1 Minggir Sleman. This study belongs to an experimental study using control-experiment group pretest posttest design. The sample technique used was simple random sampling. The validity instruments used was content validity. In this study, the data was analyzed by a t-test at significance level α 5%.  The result shows the tcalculation is  at 3,022 greater than the ttable which is 2,003, at the level of significant α = 0.05 and df of 56. This result indicated a significant difference between the experimental class 1 (XI IPA 1) and the experimental class 2 (XI IPA 2). The final average value of the experimental class 1 is at 77.39 greater than the experimental class 2, that is 76.00 and weight effectiveness is found at 4.74%. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of Concept Mapping technique on learning German writing skills for students of the eleventh (XI) grade of science class in SMA Negeri 1 Minggir Sleman is more effective than Sentence Concept technique.
