THE EFFECTIVESS OF THE TALKING STICK METHOD IN THE LEARNING OF THE SPEAKING GERMAN SKILL AMONG THE STUDENTS OF GRADE XI OF THE TOURISM BUSINESS STUDY PROGRAM OF SMK NEGERI 4 YOGYAKARTA
Abstract
This study aimed to determine the effectivess of the talking stick method in the learning of the speaking German skill among the students of grade XI of the tourism business study program of SMK Negeri 4 Yogyakarta. This study is a quasi eskperiment study consists of two research variables, namely the talking stick method as the independent variable and the German speaking skills asthedependent variable.The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. The data obtained in the study was taken from German language speaking skills scores of students in the pre-test and post-test. The validity of the instrument were content validity and construct validity while the reliability was calculated using the Alpha Croon Brach formula. Data were analyzed using t-test. The results of this study showed that tobtained greater than ttable (tobtained "#$%&)> ttable "#'"(), with significance level ! = 0.05. The average value of the post-test experimental group was 8.364, while the average value of post- test control group was 7.696. The weight of the effectiveness was 9.54%. It can be concluded that the use of the talking stick method in the learning of the speaking German skill among the students of grade XI of the tourism business study program of SMK Negeri 4 Yogyakartais more effective than conventional methods.
