THE EFFORTS TO IMPROVE GERMAN READING SKILLS OF GRADE XI STUDENTS OF LANGUAGE PROGRAM AT SMA NEGERI 2 SALATIGA THROUGH BRETTSPIEL MIT EREIGNISKARTEN

Abstract


This study was aimed at improving (1) the achievement of German reading skills of grade XI students of language program at SMA Negeri 2 Salatiga through Brettspiel mit Ereigniskarten (2) thestudents’ active involvement in the teaching and learning ofGerman reading skills of grade XI students of language program at SMA Negeri 2 Salatiga through Brettspiel mit Ereigniskarten. The type of this study was Classroom Action Research. In this study, the researcher and the teacher collaboratively determined the strategies. This classroom action reasearch consisted of 2 cycles, and each of the cycle consisted of 4 steps, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. The subjects were grade XI students of language program at SMA Negeri 2 Salatiga. the data in this study were obtained through observation, interview, field notes, quetionnaires, documentation, and reading skills test in German. The data were analyzed by using qualitative descriptive analysis. The result of this study indicated that there were someimprovements(1) the achievement of German reading skills of grade XI students of language program at SMA Negeri 2 Salatiga through Brettspiel mit Ereigniskarten resulted 25,55%, and (2) the students’ active involvement in the teaching and learning of German reading skills through Brettspiel mit Ereigniskarten resulted 52,15%.
