THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TEXTPUZZLES IN THE LEARNING OF READING SKILL IN GERMAN AMONG THE STUDENTS GRADE XI SMA NEGERI 1 MUNTILAN

Abstract


The objectives of this study is to determine (1) the differences achievement in the learning of reading skill in German among the students grade XI SMA Negeri 1 Muntilan that taught using Textpuzzles and the students that taught with 

conventional media, (2) the effectiveness of using Textpuzzles in the learning of reading skill in German. This research is quasi experimental research with pre and post test Control Group experimental design. The population in this study was the entire students grade XI SMA Negeri 1 Muntilan totaling 255 students. The sampling obtained from grade XI IPA 2 as experimental class (32 students) and grade XI IPA 3 as control class (32 students) using simple random sampling. Data obtained by using reading skill test on German text. This study has two variables, that were the using of Textpuzzles as independent variables (X) and German reading skill as dependent variables (Y). The validity test was using product moment correlation test. The result of the validity test showed that 40 questions were valid and 5 questions were invalid. Reliability was calculated with K-R 20 formula with reliability coefficient grade 0,950. Analisys of the data in this study was using t-test. Based on the results of the data shows that tobtained3,203 was greater than ttable 1,998 with significance level α=0,05. This means that there is significance difference in the learning of reading skill in German achievement among the students grade XI SMA Negeri 1 Muntilan in the experimental class and control class. The using of Texpuzzles has 8,2% weight of effectiveness. The average post test experimental class 28,578 is greater than control class 27,531. It can be concluded that the Textpuzzles is more effective in the learning of reading skill in German.
