EFFORTS IN IMPROVING THE GERMAN WRITING SKILL OF STUDENTS GRADE XI SCIENCE OF SMA N 1 MUNTILAN MAGELANG THROUGH CARTOONS

Abstract


This study aimed to improve the German writing skill of students grade XI Science SMAN 1 Muntilan Magelang through cartoons. This type of research is a classroom action research (CAR).  The strategy applied is determined collaboratively by researchers, teachers and learners. Subjects in this  study were students of class XI Science SMAN 1 Muntilan Magelang consisting of 32 learners. This action  research  was  conducted  in  two  cycles,  each  cycle  consisting  of  planning,  action,  observation  and  reflection  class  interviews,  field  notes,  questionnaires  and  instruments.  Data  were  analyzed  using  qualitative  descriptive  analysis  technique.  The  results  showed  that  the  use of  cartoons  provide  positive  change  in  accordance  with  the  indicators  of  the  success  of  the  study.  Improving  the  quality  of  the  learning  process  seen  from  the  activities and  spirit  of  learners  increased,  more  courage  to  express  an  opinion, answering and asking questions. The average value of writing students in the first cycle is 87.28  and the second cycle is 86.48. High and low values are influenced by the level of difficulty of the exercise,  the type of exercise, the level of understanding of learners, etc. Thus, German writing skills of students of  class  XI  Science  SMAN  1  Muntilan  has  improved  in  terms  of  both process  and  outcome  after  a given action through cartoons.
