THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE AUDIO-VISUAL TEACHING AIDS IN THE GERMAN LEARNING OF SPEAKING AMONG THE STUDENTS OF GRADE XI OF SMA NEGERI 2 PURWOREJO

Abstract


This study was aimed to know: (1) the difference of the German speaking skill performance between the students of Grade XI SMA N 2 Purworejo, who were taught using audio-visual media and they who were taught using conventional media, (2) the effectiveness of using audio-visual media in the teaching of German speaking skill. This study was the kind of quasi experiment and consists of 2 variables, free variable and bound variable. The sample was taken using the simple random sampling technique. The data were taken using speaking test. From the T-test analysis, the value of thitung was bigger than the ttabel (2,409 >1,997) with the significant level α= 0,05. The average of post-test experiment group was 23,01 and the control group one was 21,54. The effectiveness quality was 8,25%. The conclusion is the use of audio-visual media in the German learning of speaking skill was effective.
