THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE JIGSAW TECHNIQUE IN THE LEARNING OF READING SKILL IN GERMAN AMONG THE STUDENTS OF GRADE XI OF SMA NEGERI 1 MINGGIR SLEMAN
Abstract
This research aims to identify (1) the difference of academic achievement in the learning of reading of German, which is demonstrated by 11th grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Minggir Sleman: between those who are taught by Jigsaw technique for German reading skill in 11th grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Minggir Sleman. This research belongs to quasi eksperiment. The research design is pre-test post-test control group. Sample is taken by simple random sampling. Instrument validity employs t-test. The result of this research shows that the value of tcounted = 5.220, which is greater than the value of ttable = 2.000 on the level of significance α = 0,05 with the value of significance is smaller than 0.05 (0.000<0.05) and df = 60. The effectiveness point is as much as 8.2%, so that it can be conclude that the use of Jigsaw technique for German reading skill 11th grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Minggir Sleman is more effective than the use of conventional technique.
