THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE GALLERY WALK TECHNIQUE IN THE TEACHING OF GERMAN WRITING SKILL IN SMA N 1 OF GRABAG MAGELANG

Abstract
This research aimed to find out (1) the difference of students accomplishment in learning of German writing in SMA Negeri 1 Grabag Magelang between the class that was taught by Gallery Walk technique and the class that was taught by the conventional technique; (2) the effectiveness of the Gallery Walk technique in the teaching of German Writing Skill of in SMA N 1 of Grabag Magelang. This research was an experimental research that used Pre-test and Post-test Control Grup Design. The population of this research were all students of class XII IPS SMA N 1 of Grabag Magelang. The sample-taking used the simple random sampling. The Samples were XII IPS 4 (26 students) as the experimental class and XII IPS 3 (22 students) as the control class. All of the samples were 48 students. The instrument used a test of German writing skills. The validity of instruments used content validity and construct validity. Data were analyzed by t-test. The result of the research showed that the trate was bigger (3,770) as the ttable (1,678) and the significance rate was α = 0,05. This showed a significant difference in the learning accomplishment between the experiment class and the control class. The final average of the experiment class is 83.73 and the control class is 78.52 with the effectiveness rate of 8.5%. So it is concluded that Gallery Walk technique was effective in the teaching of German writingskills.
