THE POVERTY REDUCTION EFFORTS OF KEBUMEN REGENCY GOVERNMENT THROUGH TOURISM SECTOR

Abstract


ABSTRACT

The research was aimed to describe the poverty reduction efforts of Kebumen Regency Government through tourism sector. It was also aimed to describe the obstacles faced by the Government in poverty reduction efforts through tourism sector. This was descriptive reseach using qualitative approach. Purposeive technique was deployed for Informant selection. The subject of this research included  the Head of Tourism Development and the Head of Tourism Resources Development Section. The data were collected through interview and documentation techniques. Cross Check technique was employed to gain data validity. Data analysis used inductive data analysis, including data reduction, data display and conclusion. The results showed that the poverty reduction efforts of Kebumen Regency Government through tourism sector included; (1) tourism village development program; and (2) tourism destination development program. The obstacles faced by Kebumen Regency Government in poverty reduction through tourism sector included; (1) lack of human resources (HR), (2) budget constraints; (3) lack of locals' support in tourism development.
