THE EFFECT OF VALUE CLARIFICATION TECHNIQUES ON THE UNDERSTANDING OF TOLERANCE OF GRADE TEN BOARDING AND REGULAR STUDENTS THROUGH LEARNING PKN IN SMA MUHAMMADIYAH BANTUL

ABSTRACT
This study aims to investigate the use of clarification technique on the understanding of tolerance of boarding students through civic education learning in SMA Muhammadiyah Bantul, the effect of the use of clarification technique on student tolerance skills through civic education learning in SMA Muhammadiyah Bantul and the difference effect of the use of clarification techniques on the understanding of tolerance between boarding and regular students through civic education learning at SMA Muhammadiyah Bantul. The type of this study was a quasi experiment with pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this study was 134 grade ten boarding & regular students of SMA Muhammadiyah Bantul. The sample of this study used simple random technique. The data were collected using test and observation. The test instrument used biserial point correlation test and KR-20. The data analysis technique used sample t-test, t test, and gain score. Based on the result, it can be concluded that: 1) there's an effect of the use of value clarification technique on the understanding of tolerance of grade ten boarding students at SMA Muhammadiyah Bantu. It’s indicated by the sig. by 0.028 <0.05. 2) there's an effect of the use of value clarification technique on the understanding of tolerance for grade ten regular students at SMA MuhammadiyahBantul. It’s indicated by the sig. by 0.028 < 0.05. 3) there's an effect of the use of value clarification technique between regular & boarding students. It’sindicated by the result gain value from boarding class was 0.34, bigger than the result of gain score calculation from regular class which was 0.32. Therefore, the use of value clarification technique is more effective if it's used for boarding class rather than regular class.
