EFFECTIVENESS OF USING SCIENTIFIC APPROACH IN LEARNING OF PPKN TO INCREASE MOTIVATION AND ACHIEVEMENT OF STUDENT’S OF GRADE X IN SMK 3 YOGYAKARTA 2015/2016
Abstract
This study me to reveal: 1) effectiveness of using scientific approach to the motivation of learners in a learning PPKn class for 10st grade student at SMK Negeri 3 Yogyakarta , 2) effectiveness using a scientific approach to learning achievement PPKn of class for 10st grade student at SMK Negeri 3 Yogyakarta .
This study was an experimental study with prestest - posttest design. population of this research was all of the 10st students at SMK Negeri 3 Yogyakarta with 600 students. Technique of getting sampling in this research is a random sampling in 10st Kendaraan Ringan 1 (KR) class as an experiment class (32 students) and 10st Kendaraan Ringan 3 (KR) control class (32 students). Technique of data collecting is used for using inquiry at the beginning of experiment, inquiry at the end, pretest, posttest, and documentation. Technique of the analyzing data was using t test with 5% significance. The results was that: 1) using of scientific approach is effective to improve the motivation of learners. It showed that the t value for the student’s motivation of study is 0,047 and the significance was smaller than the value of 5% significance (0.047 <0.05). It was therefore concluded there is a significant difference between the motivation of learners who use a scientific approach to the use of the lecture method. The amount of influence can be seen from the scientific approach to the acquisition gain score in the experimental class of 0.34 which shows the effect in the medium category, whereas in the control class 0.19 which shows the effect in the low category. 2) using of scientific approach is effective to improve the achievement of learners. It showed that the t value for the student’s learning achievements of study is 0.006 and the significance was smaller than the value of 5% significance (0.006 <0.05). It was therefore concluded that there are significant differences between the achievements of learners who use scientific approach to the use of the conventional approach. The amount of influence scientific approach can be seen from the experimental class acquisition gain score of 0.44 which shows the effect in the medium category, while the control class 0.24 which shows the effect in the low category.
