THE ROLE OF TEACHER PPKn AS A FACILITATOR OF POLITICAL EDUCATION IN SMK PIRI 1 YOGYAKARTA

Abstract


ABSTRACT

This study aims to describe; (1) How the perspective of  PPKn teachers in PPKn learning as political education; (2) How the role of PPKn teachers in facilitating political education in SMK PIRI 1 Yogyakarta; (3) What are the obstacles faced by PPKn teachers when facilitating political education.

The type of this research is descriptive with qualitative approach. This research was conducted at SMK PIRI 1Yogyakarta in May until August 2017, with the subject of research is all the teachers of PPKn. Data collection in this research use interview technique and documentation. Techniques of testing the validity  analysis according to creswell that forming theme, category, pattern and meaning.

The result showed that; (1) The perspektive of PPKn teachers in learning of PPKn as political education is to exercise the rights and obligations of the citizens well, to participate actively in elections, to dare to express opinions and to take responsibility; (2) In thr role of the PPKn teachers at SMK PIRI 1 Yogyakarta in order to facilitate political education includes: (a) inculcating the value to learners about the importance of political education; (b) providing material and broadcasting videos on yhe importance of political aducation; (c) to design on the provide proposals related to student facilities to the principal; (d) cooperate also with the KPU to provide socialization to students in SMK PIRI 1 Yogyakarta with the aim to invite learners as beginers voters not to GOLPUT in general elections; (e) provides worksheet related to polotical education; (3) Obstacles experienced by PPKn teachers in SMK PIRI 1 Yogyakarta in facilitating the political education of learners at the time of learning, among others, less time when delivering lessons, then learners who can not be conditioned, apathy of learners to political education. In addition to obstacles in the learning of the teachers also experience barriers beyond the learning that is, the lack of budgetary costs provided by schools of facilitate learners related to political education, mastery of limited PPKn teachers, less interesting learning methods.
