Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of Civics teachers in the formation of the discipline character of learners in Senior High School State 4 Yogyakarta and know the inhibiting factors and supporters that influence it. The type of this research is descriptive with qualitative approach. The research subjects are all Civics teachers, principals, counseling teachers, homeroom teachers, and some students. Technique of collecting data using triangulation technique with data source from result of observation, interview, and documentation. Data analysis technique in this research is interactive analysis. The conclusion in this research is, the role of Civics teacher in giving motivation, correction, exemplary, and guidance using a combination of authoritarian and permissive concepts. The inhibiting factors experienced are from within and outside the school environment. Supporting factors that are experienced, there are some other subject teachers who care about the discipline of learners and special positions that are still associated with the formation of disciplinary character of learners who carried by all the teachers of Civics.
