EFEKTIVITAS PENERAPAN METODE STUDENT FACILITATOR AND EXPLAINING DAN JIGSAW TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR IPS SISWA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 2 GODEAN
Abstract
This study aimed to find out a significant difference in Social Studies learning
outcomes of Grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Godean learning through the Student
Facilitator and Explaining method in comparison with those learning through the Jigsaw
method and to find out the effectiveness of the application of the Student Facilitator and
Explaining method in comparison with the Jigsaw method on their Social Studies learning
outcomes.
This study employed the quasi-experimental research method using the Pretest-Posttest
Nonequivalent Multiple-Group design. The research population comprised all Grades VIII of
SMP Negeri 2 Godean. The research sample, consisting of Grade VIII B and Grade VIII D,
was selected by means of the random sampling technique. The research instruments were
tests. Tests of analysis assumptions were a normality test and a homogeneity test. The
hypothesis was tested using the t-test (independent samples t-test).
The results of the study showed that there was a significant difference in Social Studies
learning outcomes between Grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Godean learning through

results of the study also showed that the Student Facilitator and Explaining method was more
effective than the Jigsaw method on their Social Studies learning outcomes.
