PENGEMBANGAN MULTIMEDIA PEMBELAJARAN IPS SEBAGAI SUMBER BELAJAR IPS SMP KELAS VII SUB TEMA HASIL KEBUDAYAAN MASYARAKAT INDONESIA PADA MASA LALU

Abstract


This study aimed to investigate: 1) the development of Social Studies learning
multimedia as a Social Studies learning resource for Grade VII of the junior high school (JHS)
for the sub-theme of Indonesian people’s cultural products in the past, and 2) the
appropriateness of the Social Studies learning multimedia as a Social Studies learning
resource based on the assessment by a materials expert, media expert, Social Studies teacher,
and students in learning.
This was a research and development (R&D) study. The development procedure in the
study used the development model by Borg & Gall. The research subjects were 31 students of
Grade VII SMP Negeri 3 Kalasan. The tryout was conducted from 23 March to 4 April 2016.
The data were collected through validation questionnaires for the materials expert, media
expert, and Social Studies teacher, and a student response questionnaire. The data of the
expert validation and students’ responses used the Likert scale to investigate the categories of
the Social Studies learning multimedia as a Social Studies learning resource. The Social
Studies learning multimedia as a Social Studies learning resource was considered appropriate
to use if the validation by the materials expert, media expert, Social Studies teacher, and the
application tryout involving the students yielded a category of the mean score which was good
at the minimum.

The results of the study were as follows. 1) The stages of the development of the
Social Studies learning multimedia as a Social Studies learning resource for JHS for the subtheme
of Indonesian people’s cultural products in the past included data collection, planning,
product development, and product evaluation. 2) The developed Social Studies learning
multimedia as a Social Studies learning resource for Grade VII of JHS for the sub-theme of
Indonesian people’s cultural products in the past multimedia was appropriate to use based on:
a) the result of the validation by the materials expert with a score of 3.85, which was good; b)
the result of the validation by the media expert with a score of 3.85, which was good; and c)
the result of the validation by the Social Studies teacher a score of 4.73, which was very good,
and the students’ responses in the field tryout with a mean score 4.50, which was very good.
