HUBUNGAN ANTARA PENGGUNAAN MEDIA SOSIAL DAN SUBJECTIVE WELL BEING GENERASI Z

Abstrak

Kemajuan teknologi berhubungan erat dengan perkembangan media komunikasi berbasis internet dan akun media sosial. Tata cara berkomunikasi yang sebelumnya bersifat tradisional berubah menjadi komunikasi menggunakan media sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada hubungan antara penggunaan media sosial terhadap subjective well being. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian expost facto dengan pendekatan kuantitatif yang dilakukan dengan metode analisis korelasional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa di SMP Negeri 11 Yogyakarta. Sampel berjumlah 103 siswa yang didapatkan dengan metode cluster random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan terdiri dari skala penggunaan media sosial yang telah dimodifikasi dari skala kecanduan media sosial milik Kim, Cho dan Yang (2013), skala Life Satisfaction kognitif dan skala PANAS (Diener, 2009). Skala penggunaan media sosial berjumlah 25 butir dengan koefisien reliabilitas α=0,917 dan skala subjective well being berjumlah 25 butir dengan koefisien reliabilitas α=0,866. Data dalam penelitian ini di analisis dengan teknik korelasi menggunakan Product Moment dari Pearson. Koefisien korelasi yang diperoleh sebesar 0,022 dengan probabilitas 0,0266 (p=<0,05) dan koefisien determinasi sebesar (R2) 7,07%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan antara penggunaan media sosial dan subjective well-being. Hal ini berarti semakin tinggi penggunaan media sosial, maka diikuti pula semakin tingginya subjective well being. Tingkat penggunaan media sosial tergolong tinggi yaitu sebesar 53,40% namun tingkat subjective well-being remaja juga tinggi yaitu sebesar 86,41%.

Abstract

The phenomenoun about increasing internet development has obtainted with communication development, resulting in many kind of social media platform. The communication style before based on traditional style has becomes change with social media platform style. This study aimed to find out a social media usage and subjective well-being. This research uses expost facto with quantitative approach and correlational analysis. The population of this research is students in SMP Negeri 11 Yogyakarta. The research used cluster random sampling method were 103 students as subject. The instruments were used in this research such as a modified. Social Media sage ̀ Scale of Kim, Cho, and Yangs ̀ (2013) Social Media Addiction Scale which modified ̀ ife ̀ Satisfaction cogntive Scale and PANAS scale of Diener’s (2009). The coeffient realibilty of social media usage has 25 items obtained by =0.917 and subjective well being scale has 25 items obtained by =0.866. The data in this study was analyed ̀ by Pearsons ̀ Product Moment correlation technique. The correlation coefficient obtained is 0.022 with a probability of 0.0266 (p<0.05) and determination coefficient obtained (R2) is 7,07%. The result of this research shows that social media usage has a correlation with subjective well being. This research means that the higher of social media usage ̀ the higher of the subjective well being. The degree of social media usage by ̀ generation in SMP Negeri 11 Yogyakarta is categoried ̀ as high (53.40%), similarly ̀ the subjective wellbeing ̀ level also categoried ̀ as high (86.41%).
