UPAYA MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KRITIS MENGGUNAKAN METODE STUDI KASUS PADA PEMBELAJARAN IPS

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas IV pada mata pelajaran IPS, dengan menerapkan metode studi kasus. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas IV yang berjumlah 24 siswa.. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan metode studi kasus pada pembelajaran IPS dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. pelaksanaannya yaitu: a) siswa mengenal gejala, b) siswa menganalisis permasalahannya, c) Siswa membuat hipotesis, d) siswa mencari sumber informasi tentang faktor penyebab permasalahan, e) Siswa membuat solusi untuk permasalahan tersebut, f) siswa membuat kesimpulan. Peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dilihat dari hasil tes yang diberikan dimana pada pra tindakan presentasenya (42%), pada siklus I meningkat menjadi (67%) dan meningkat lagi pada siklus II menjadi (79%).

Abstract

This research aims to increase the critical thinking ability of fourth grade elementary students for their social studies learning by applying study case method. This was Classroom Action Research using Kemmis and Mc. Taggart’s model. The subject were 24 students from the fourth grade. The technique of data gathering used test and observation. The result of the research shows that the use of case study method on the social studies learning can increase the students critical thinking ability. The implementations are, a). students get to know the symptoms, b) students analyze the problem, c) students make hypothesis, (d) students look for information source about the causal factor of the problem, e) students make solutions for the problem, (f) students draw conclusion. The increase of students’ critical thinking ability can be seen from the result of the test where the pre-action research gave 42%, then on the first cycle it increased to 67% and it increased more on the second cycle which was 79%.
