Abstrak

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan proses pembelajaran dan keterampilan membaca pemahaman melalui Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) pada siswa kelas V SD Negeri Serang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas kolaboratif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan teknik observasi, tes, dan dokumentasi. Data kuantitatif dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif dengan mencari nilai rata-rata. Data kualitatif dianalisis deskriptif kualitatif dengan mendeskripsikan data hasil observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan sustained silent reading dalam pembelajaran membaca pemahaman dapat meningkatkan proses dan keterampilan membaca pemahaman. Aktivitas siswa dalam proses pembelajaran pada pratindakan 46,36%, siklus I 59,54%, dan siklus II 75%. Sedangkan, nilai rata-rata keterampilan membaca pemahaman meningkat dari pratindakan sebesar 60,72, nilai rata-rata siklus I sebesar 66,69, dan nilai rata-rata siklus II 76,84.

Abstract

The research aims to improve learning process and skill reading comprehension through Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) at the fifth grade of SDN Serang. The kind ofthe research was collaborative classroom action research. The technique used for collecting data were observation, test, and documentation. The quantitative data had been analyzed used descriptive statistic by calculating mean score. The qualitative data had been analyzed used descriptive of qualitative by describing observation and documentation data results. The finding of the research show that using sustained silent reading in the reading comprehension learning process is able to improve reading comprehension skill and process. It is proven by the increases of students activity in the learning process 46,36 % before treatment, cycle I 59,54% , and cycle II 75 %. Besides, the mean score of reading comprehension skill increases from 60,72 before treatment, mean of cycle I is 66,69, and mean of cycle II is 76,84.
