Abstract


This research aims to: (1) know whether there are differences in the ability to
write the text of the news that significant between the students who follow the use
learning strategies Studet Team Achievement Division (STAD) with students who
follow the teaching without using STAD strategy on the students of class VIII
SMPNegeri 2 Prambanan Klaten, (2) test the effectiveness of the use of the strategy
STAD in learning to write the text of the news on the students of class VIII SMP 2
Prambanan Klaten.
This research experiment using the research design pretest-posttest control
group. The research population is all the students of class VIII SMP 2 Prambanan
Klaten numbered 200. The technique of the determination of the sample  using the
technique of cluster random sampling. The results of the classes VIIIA as control
group and Class VIII B as a group of the experiment. The validity of the used is the
validity of the contents.  
The results of the study showed that first there is a difference between the
ability to write the text of the news that significant between the students who get use
learning strategies STAD and students who have learned without using
strategiSTAD. The difference is demonstrated by the results of the tests  t, namely
thitungsebesar 2,210, Indonesia Recorded Its 94 35, and value psebesar 0.004
(p<0.05=significant). Second, STAD strategy proved effective in learning to write the
text of the news on the students of class VIII SMP 2 Prambanan Klaten. This is
demonstrated by the results of the tests t pretes and postes experiments, namely
thitung groups of 8,564 with Indonesia Recorded Its 94 of 19 danp of 0.001 on equal
error 0.05 (5%). Then, gain score average of control groups 6.5 (70,8-64,3), whereas
groups experiment of 10.2 (71,15-60,95).
