HUBUNGAN KEBIASAAN MEMBACA CERPEN DENGAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS NARASI SISWA KELAS X SMA NEGERI 6 YOGYAKARTA

Abstract



This research purpose are to (1) describe short story reading habit, (2)
describe narrative writing skills, and (3) to test the correlation of short story
reading habit with narrative writing skills of X grade students of SMA Negeri 6
Yogyakarta.
The populations in this research there are 8 classes with amount of
students 228 peoples. The research sample is taken by 50% in order to get sample
of 4 classes with 111 students enrolled. Sampling technique used is proportional
random sampling.  In collecting data uses two methods,  they are  questionnaires
and writing test  methods.  The normality and the linearity test are used in
requirement analysis test. Analysis technique used is correlation product moment.
Based on the data analysis can be concluded that (1) the short story
reading habits of X grade students of SMA Negeri 6 Yogyakarta  with 111
students there are 96 (82.88%) students in middle category, 13 (11.71%) students
in high category, and 6 (5.41%) students in low category; (2) the narrative writing
skills of X grade students of SMA Negeri 6 Yogyakarta with 111 students there
are 65 (58%) students in middle category, 19 (17.12%) students in high category,
and 27 (24.32%) students in low category; (3) there is significant correlation
between short story reading habit with narrative writing skills of X grade students
of SMA Negeri 6 Yogyakarta at 9.43 in r count and 0.943 in r table at the level of
coefficient on 1%. Thus, it can be concluded that short story reading habit and
narrative writing skills have a reciprocal correlation because in a short story there
must be narration that becomes the basis for a story.
