KEEFEKTIFAN STRATEGI QUESTION-ANSWER RELATIONSHIP (QAR) DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MEMAHAMI TEKS TANGGAPAN DESKRIPTIF PADA SISWA KELAS VII SMP NEGERI 4 KALASAN, SLEMAN

Abstract


This research aims (1) to determine the significant difference in reading
comprehension descriptive response text skill between students taught using QAR
strategy and who are  taught without using QAR strategy, and (2) to test the
effectiveness QAR strategy  in reading comprehension descriptive response text
learning on VII grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Kalasan, Sleman.
This research is quasi experimental research with is applied control group
pretest/posttest design. The population is VII grade of SMP Negeri 4 Kalasan,
Sleman who belong to four classes. To determine the sample, this research uses
simple random sampling. Based on the technique, it is fixed that class VII C as the
experiment group and class VII B as the control group. The data collection
techniques is in the form of objective test with are 40 questions with four possible
answers. The data obtained from the pretest and posttest on control group and
experimental group. The validity used in content validity.  The validity and
reliability are calculated with the help of Iteman program. The data analysis
technique used is t-test with the significant level 5%. Before analyzing the data,
they should be tested to see the normality and homogeneity. The testing analyzed
by SPSS 16.0 shows that the pretest  and posttest are distributed normally and
homogeneously.
The result of this research are (1) there are significant difference in reading
comprehension descriptive response text learning between students taught using
QAR strategy and who are taught without  using QAR strategy on VII grade
students of SMP Negeri 4 Kalasan, Sleman. Based on t-test analysis, the t-test of
the posttest control group and experimental group obtained  thit 5.155 with df 62
and p 0.000. (2) The QAR strategy is effective to be used in  reading
comprehension descriptive response text learning. Based on t-test analysis, the t-
test for paired samples pretest and posttest experimental group obtained thit 15.600
with df 31 and p 0.00 (p < 0.05).
