PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN MENULIS CERPEN MENGGUNAKAN METODE JIGSAW BERBANTUAN MEDIA VIDEO IKLAN ASURANSI PADA SISWA KELAS X SMA NEGERI SUMPIUH
Abstract
This research aims to improve the skills of writing a short story with
jigsaw method by using insurance advertising video media towards grade X of
SMA Negeri Sumpiuh.
Research is located in SMA Negeri Sumpiuh, Jalan Raya Barat No. 95,
Sumpiuh, Banyumas, Central Java Province. This research includes classroom
action research. This research is focused in problems related to improving in short
story writing skills with jigsaw method by using insurance advertising video
media. The data are collected through observation, interviews, field notes,
questionnaires, students’ writing documentation, and activity photo
documentation. The research design was a descriptive study with a qualitative and
quantitative approach. Techniques to achieve the credibility of research are used
democratic validity, process validity, and dialogue validity.
The results showed that the use of jigsaw method by using insurance
advertising video media could improve students’ skill towards grade X of SMA
Negeri Sumpiuh in writing short story. Improving in quality of the learning
process can be seen through the change of the attitude of the students in the
learning process. Previously, students still got difficulties to find an idea when
writing short stories. After the actions, students no longer have problem finding an
idea, become more actively on asking, answer questions, and express opinions in a
discussion on writing short story learning process. Product improvement quality
can be seen from the increase of student test results in pre-action to the cycle I.
The average score of pre-action is 66.84 which is still below 76, the criterion of
success. After the action, there is an improvement in the quality of the product
cycle I and II. This is proved by the average score of cycle I is 75.94 and the
average score of cycle II is 83.14. Improvement in the average score of the pre-
action until the second cycle is 16.30.
