THE INFLUENCE OF PERCEPTION OF GERMAN LANGUAGE AND VOCABULARY MASTERY ON THE READING ABILITY OF GERMAN TEXTS OF GRADE XI STUDENTS IN SMA N 2 WATES KULONPRO

Abstract


This research aimed to investigate the influence of perception of german language and vocabulary mastery on the reading ability of german texts of grade XI students in SMA N 2 Wates kulonprogo. The technique was random sampling. There were two free variables, namely students’ perception about German language (X1) and vocabulary mastery of German language (X2), and a dependent variable of reading skill of German texts (Y). the study was ex post facto. Data gathering used questionnaire and test. Questionnaire used the formula of Pearson and reliability test of vocabulary and reading skill of German language using Alpha Cronbach formula. From result of the calculation, the effect students’ perception about German language was 20,13% and vocabulary mastery towards reading skill of German language was 11,03%. The result of the research indicated positive and significant students’ perception about German language and vocabulary mastery towards reading skill of German language of eleventh grade students of 33,20%.
