THE IMAGE OF FEMALE MAIN CHARACTERS AND MORAL VALUES IN “SCHNEEWEIßCHEN UND ROSENROT“ AND “DIE GÄNSEMAGD“ OF THE ANTHOLOGY OF FAIRY TALES KINDER- UND HAUSMÄRCHEN BY BRÜDER GRIMM

Abstract


This study is aimed to describe the image of female main characters and moral values in the fairytale of “Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot“ and “Die Gänsemagd“. The resource of the study is the fairytale of “Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot“ and “die Gänsemagd“ by Brüder Grimm. The research data are words, phrases, and sentences that demonstrate the image of female main characters and moral values in fairy tales.Data were obtained by reading and obtained through semantic and expert judgement validity.The reliability obtained through intrarater and interrater reliability.The results are as follows: 1)the image of female main characters in”Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot“ fairy tale arephysical aspect of Schneeweißchen are: a) a beautiful woman, b) a tender and quite woman, c) a woman who maintains neatness and cleanliness. The physical aspect of Rosenrot are: a) a beautiful woman, b) an active woman, c) a romantic woman. The psychological aspect of Schneeweißchen and Rosenrot are: a) loving, b) brave, c) obedient, d) patient. Social aspect in the family are: a) as a child, b) as a sister. Social aspect in society is: a) helping others.2)the image of female main characters in”DieGänsemagd”fairy tale arePhysical aspect of Die Gänsemagd are: a) a beautiful woman, b) a tender and innocent woman, c) a neat woman who maintains her appearance. The psychological aspect Die Gänsemagdare: a) careless, b) loving, c) coward, d) obedient. Social aspect Die Gänsemagd in the family is a daughter. 3)The moral values of the fairytale “Schneeweißchen und Rosenrot” are divided into three: a) the relationship between human and itself is: (1) responsibility in house work and work hard, (2) fear. b) the relationship between human and the others is: (1) love and harmony, (2) obedience, (3) concern and helping, (4) talking bad, (5) blaming others, (6) ungrateful, (7) revenge. c) the relationship between human and environment is loving animals. 4)The moral values in the fairytale of “Die Gänsemagd” are: a) the relationship between human and itself is: (1) humble, (2) fear, (3) hard working, (4) covering its mistake. b) the relationship between human and the others are: (1) obedience, (2) opposing order, (3) cunning, (4) lying. c) the relationship between human and the environment is loving animals.
