EFEKTIVITAS PEER COUNSELING TERHADAP MOTIVASI BELAJAR SISWA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 4 SLEMAN

Abstrak

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas peer counseling terhadap motivasi belajar siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Sleman. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian quasi eksperimental dengan desain non equivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian ini berjumlah 28 siswa kelas VIII SMPN 4 Sleman terdiri dari siswa kelompok eksperimen yang menjadi konselor dan konseli sebaya serta siswa dari kelompok kontrol yang diambil menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan menggunakan skala motivasi belajar. Selanjutnya, uji validitas skala motivasi belajar menggunakan validitas konstrak dan uji reliabilitas menggunakan SPSS ver 16.0 dengan rumus Alpha Cronbach diperoleh koefisien skala motivasi belajar sebesar 0,831. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji wilcoxon. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peer counseling efektif terhadap motivasi belajar siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Sleman. Hasil ini ditunjukkan ada perbedaan antara pretest dan posttest kelompok eksperimen dengan skor rata-rata sebelum dan sesudah pemberian treatment 90,20 menjadi 108,50. Berdasarkan uji wilcoxon dapat diketahui bahwa taraf signifikasi p = 0,005 < 0,05 hal ini menujukkan Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Maka dapat dikatakan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari treatment yang diberikan pada kelompok eksperimen yang dapat dikatakan bahwa peer counseling efektif terhadap motivasi belajar siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Sleman.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the effectiveness of peer counseling on learning motivation of VIII grade students of  SMPN 4 Sleman. This research is a quasi-experimental research with non equivalent control group design. The samples of the research were 28 students grade VIII of SMPN 4 Sleman which belonged to an experiment group with several students acting as counselors and others as counselees as well as students which belonged to a control group chosen using purposive sampling. The data of the research were obtained using Learning Motivation Scale. Then, the validity of the Learning Motivation Scale was tested using content validity and the reliability was tested using Alpha Cronbach formula of SPSS ver 16.0. It was discovered that the coefficient of the Learning Motivation Scale was 0.831. The data analysis technique applied was wilcoxon test. The research showed that peer counseling was effective in the motivation of students in class VIII of SMPN 4 Sleman. This result indicated that there was a difference between the pretest and posttest of the experimental group with the average score before and after the implementation of treatment 90.20 to 108.50. Based on Wilcoxon test it can be seen that the level of significance p = 0.005 <0.05 this shows Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Therefore, it can be said that there is a significant effect from the treatment given to the experiment group. In other words, the peer counseling program could improve the learning motivation of grade VIII students of SMPN 4 Sleman.
