AN ECOLOGICAL CRITICISM IN ROBERT SEETHALER’S “EIN GANZES LEBEN “: AN ECOCRITICISM LITERARY ANALYSIS

Abstract
The purpose of this research is to describe (1) natural narrative, (2) ecological criticism, and (3) character interaction with the environment in Robert Seethaler’s “Ein ganzes Leben”. This research using ecocriticism approach by utilizing the theory of ecocriticism literary. Data sources obtained from Robert Seethaler’s book “Ein ganzes Leben” published by Goldmann in 2014. The data were collected through reading and note-taking. The data analysis occupied qualitative technique. The validity of the data was obtained through the semantic validity. The reliability of the data was attained through the intrarater and interrater reliability. The study showed that (1) the novel narrates the natural Alpen mountains, i.e (a) Quiet and calm mountain atmosphere, (b) meadow, (c) mountains, (d) the place for winter travel, (2) there are three ecological criticisms, i.e (a) modernization, (b) global warming, and (c) natural disasters, (3) There are five forms of character interaction with the environment, i.e (a) observing nature, (b) Cultivate agriculture, (c) playing in nature, (d) cutting down trees, and (e) involved with the local culture.
