AN ANALYSIS OF THE CHARACTER AND CHARACTERIZATION OF ANNE FRANK IN ANNE FRANK’S DIARY (A STUDY ON ERICK H. ERIKSON’S DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY)

Abstract


 

This research aims to describe character and characterization of Anne Frank on Erick H. Erikson’s Developmental Psychology in Anne Frank’s Diary of Anne Frank. This research uses the psychology approach. The data analyze was used descriptive qualitative analysis. The subject of the research is Anne Frank ‘Anne Frank Tagebuch’. The data collected by employing the techniques of reading and record. The instrument of this research is the human instrument. The validity of the data was obtained through semantic validity and expert judgement validity. The reliability used intrarater and interrater. The results of the research are as follow. Anne enters the two stages of development, that is the period of school (fourth stages) and adolescence (fifth stages). In period of school comprised of virtue (competence), ritualisation-ritualism and pschycosocial crisis. The main character of Anne Frank undergoing the virtue stage nicely. In ritualisastion-ritualism stage, Anne Frank can not undergo these stage well. Anne has undergone a psychosocial crisis. In adolescence comprised of positive identity, chaos identity and virtue. Anne has undergone a positive indentity and chaos identity. As a result of the two different identity has created a balance of individuality Anne Frank.
