IMPROVING THE GERMAN LANGUAGE READING SKILL OF GRADE XI STUDENTS OF SMA NEGERI 2 BANGUNTAPAN BANTUL THROUGH THE PORPE (PREDICT, ORGANIZE, REHEARSE, PRACTICE, EVALUATE) TECHNIQUE
Abstract
This research aims to increase: (1) the activity of grade XI students of SMA Negeri 2 Banguntapan Bantul in German language learning process, (2) the achievment in German language reading skill of grade XI students of SMA Negeri 2 Banguntapan Bantul in through PORPE (Predict, Organize, Rehearse, Practice, Evaluate) technique. This research is a classroom action research. The strategy of this research is determined collaboratively between researcher and teacher. The subject of this research are grade XI IPS 1 students of SMA Negeri 2 Banguntapan Bantul. The research data is analyzed by descriptive qualitative technique. This classroom action research consist of two cycles. Each cycle consist of four stages, i.e. planning, action, observation, and reflection. The successful indicator of this research are: (1) a success process and (2) a success product. The success process can be seen by the improvement of student’s activity in reading skill of German language learning process. The success product can be seen by the improvement of student’s achievment in German language reading skills. The result of this research indicated that (1) there is an improvement of students’s activity at grade XI IPS 1 of SMA Negeri 2 Banguntapan Bantul of 64.19% through PORPE (Predict, Organize, Rehearse, Practice, Evaluate) technique and (2) there is an improvement of achievement in German language reading skill of grade XI IPS 1 students of SMA Negeri 2 Banguntapan Bantul through PORPE (Predict, Organize, Rehearse, Practice, Evaluate) technique and the percentage reaches 96,29%.
