THE PERSONALITY OF THE MAIN CHARACTER MAIK AND THE ADDITIONAL CHARACTER TSCHICK IN WOLFGANG HERRNDORF’S TSCHICK: AN ANALYSIS OF LITERARY PSYCHOLOGY

Abstract

This study aims to describe the personality, the disturbances that influence the personality and the cause of the personality disorder experienced from main character Maik and the additional charack ter Tschick in a novel entitled Tschick by Wolfang Herrndorf with the psychology approach of Gerald Heymans. The data source was “Tschick ”, a novel by Wolfgang Herrndorf, published at 2012 by Rowohlt Taschenbuch Verlag Hamburg. The data were collected by employing the techniques of reading and note ‐tak ing. The data analyses occupied descriptive qualitativ technique. The validity of the data was obtained through semantic validity and expert judgement. The reliability of the data was attained through intrarater and interrater reliability. The study showed that the main character Maik has characteristics nervous, good reminder, idealist, talking unimportant matter sometimes, having unstable personality, smart,and having interest to somebody. The main character of Maik is sentimental, nerveus, and apathis. The additional character of Tschick has a coecive person, care, having bad style in appearance, uncommunicative person, and responsible one. The additional character of Tschick is gepasioner and sentimental. The personality disorder of Maik are antisocial, skizotipal, and dependent. The personality disorder of Tschick is anti social. Family and school environment are the determinant factor that causes the personality disorder of main character Maik and additional character Tschick .
