THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THE JINGLING BUTTON TECHNIQUE IN THE TEACHING OF GERMAN READING SKILLS OF GRADE XI STUDENTS AT SMA NEGERI 1 IMOGIRI BANTUL
Abstract
This study aimed to find out (1) the significant difference in the learning achievement of German reading skills between students of SMA Negeri 1 Imogiri Bantul Grade XI, which teached through thejingling button technique and which teached through the conventional technique, and (2) the effectiveness of the jingling button technique in the teaching of German reading skills. This result wasa quasi-experimental study. The data were collected through a pretest and a posttest. The sample was selected by means of the simple random sampling technique. The study involved two variabels,namely the use of the jingling button technique as independent variable (X) and the German readingskills as the dependent variable (Y). The reliability was calculated using the K-R 20 formula and the coeffiecient was 0,845. The data were analyzed by means of the t-test. The result showed tobtained= 3,982 > ttable= 2,005 at a significance level and the effectiveness weight was 6,67%.Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of the jingling button technique is more effective in theteaching of German reading skills.
