THE FORMS OF THE IMPERATIVE UTTERANCES AND THEIR LINGUAL UNITS FORMING THE IMPERATIVE MEANING IN WOLFGANG BORCHERT’S DRAUSSEN VOR DER TÜR SCRIPTS

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to describe (1) the forms of the imperative utterances, and (2) lingual units forming the imperative meaning in Wolfgang Borchert’s “Draussen vor der Tür” scripts. The research is qualitative descriptive research. Data of the research is all lingual unit which has imperative meaning of drama script “Draussen vor der Tür”. The data collecting is done using read-noted technique. The data analysis is done by using Agih-, and Padan-Pragmatik- method. The instrument of the research is the writer himself (human instrument). There is a re-checking by Expert Judgment to determine the validity of the research finding.The result of the research shows that (1) there are 4 utterances which have imperative meaning uttered through many kinds of sentenc e forms, that is 167 imperative utterances have the form of imperative sentence, 41 imperative utterances have the form of declarative sentence, 20 imperative utterances have the form interogative sentence, and 5 imperative utterances have the form hope sentence, (2) there are lingual units of the imperative meaning former, that is 209 utterances with the sentence as the former, 4 utterances with phrase as the former, and 20 utterances with word as the former.
