THE PASSIVE MEANING OF THE GERMAN ACTIVESENTENCE CONSTRUCTION IN CAROLIN PHILIPPS’ TRÄUME WOHNEN ÜBERALL
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to showed (1) the form of passive meaning in active German sentence (2) the rules of passive meaning in active German sentence in “Träume wohnen überall” romance and it’s equivalent in Indonesian “Mimpi Selalu Indah”. This study was a descriptive-qualitative research. The data of this study was the form of lingual units that contained of passive meaning in active German sentence in “Träume wohnen überall” romance and it’s equivalent in Indonesian “Mimpi Selalu Indah”. The data collection was done by using Read-note technique. The data analysis technique used translational equivalent method. Theresearch instrument was the researcher's self (human instrument). Determinants of the research validity is re-checking by Expert Judgement. The results of this study showed that (1) the form of passive meaning in active German sentence in “Träume wohnen überall” romance and its equivalent in Indonesian “Mimipi Selalu Indah” were 154 data reviewed by lingual units . The amount is classified into 9 types, those were: reflexiveverb in construction 20 data, Aktiveform withreducedvalenceinsubjekt were 51 data, construction withsein + zu + Infinitiv were 6 data, construction withsein + Adjektiv auf (-bar, -lich) were 5 data, construction withes gibt + etwas / nichts zu + Infinitiv were 4 data, construction withsich+ lassen+Infinitivwere 16 data, pronoun es as formal subjekt were 23 data, pronounman were 24 data, and construction with um zu + Infinitivwere 5 data. (2) the rules of passive meaning in active German sentencewere nine types, so there are two etymology from active German sentence: (a) the etymology from active sentences into passive sentences without changing the function of subject and object, because the origin sentence’s construction is passive (b) the etymology from active sentences into passive sentences with changing the function of subject and object.
