THE INFLUENCE OF AN UNDERSTANDING ON GERMAN CULRUTE AND THE USE OF INTERNET TO THE READING OF GERMAN TEXTS AMONG THE STUDENTS OF GRADE XI OF SMA KOLESE DE BRITTO YOGYAKARTA

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine: (1) The influence of an understanding of German culture (Landeskunde) to the reading of German language text, (2) the influence of the use of Internet to reading of the German language text, (3) the influence of an understanding on German culture (Landeskunde) and the use of internet to reading of the German language texts at the same time among the students of grade XI of SMA Kolese De Britto Yogyakarta. The data take by using questionnaires and tests. This kind of study is an ex post facto. The validity test of the instrument is by using the formula of Pearson and the reliability test is by using the formula of Alpha Cronbach. The result shows that the regression line equation y = -6.485 + 0.337 X1 + 0.256 X2. From the results of multiple regression test showed (1) The weight contribution of the understanding on German culture (Landeskunde) on the reading of German texts is 25.2%, (2) the weight contribution of the internet use on the reading of German texts is 33.1% and (3) the weight contribution of understanding on German culture (Landeskunde) and the use of internet to reading of the German language texts at the  same time is 58.3%. Thus concluded that the understanding of German culture (Landeskunde) and the use of the Internet have a significant influence to the reading of German texts.
