THE EFFORT TO IMPROVE THE GERMAN SPEAKING SKILL OF THE 10TH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA N 1 SEDAYU BANTUL THROUGH VIDEO
Abstract
This study aims to improve (1) speaking skill in German for the 01th grade students of SMA N 1 Sedayu Bantul, (2) the learners’ activity for the 10th grade students of SMA N 1 Sedayu Bantul using video. The type of this study is the Classroom Action Research (CAR). The strategy was determined collaboratively between researcher, teacher, and students. The subjects are thirty one students in the 10th grade of SMA N 1 Sedayu Bantul. This Classroom Action Research consisted of 2 cycles. Each of the cycles consisted of 4 steps, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data in this study were obtained through interviews, observation, questionnaires, field notes and speaking skill test in German. The data was analyzed by using qualitative descriptive analysis. The result of this research indicates that video can improve speaking skill in German for the 10th grade students of SMA N 1 Sedayu Bantul. The improvement of the average grades of the student’s German speaking skill reaches 13.79% and there is also the learners’ activity improvement reaches 55.82%.
