THE EFFORTS TO IMPROVE THE MASTARY OF THE GERMAN VOCABULARY AMONG THE ELEVEN GRADERS OF SMAN 3 BANJAR WEST JAVA THROUGH MYSTERY BAG TECHNIQUE

Abstract


The study aims to improve (1) the mastary of the German vocabulary and (2) learner’s activity in German for eleven graders of SMAN 3 Banjar West Java through mystery bag technique. This study is a classroom action research carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Strategies are determined collaboratively between teacher and researcher. Subjects in this study were students of class XI IPA 3, consisting of 27 students. Research data obtained through observations, interviews, questionnaire, field notes, vocabulary tests, and documentations. The data are then analyzed descriptively qualitative. The indicators of success in this research are: (1) the success of the process and (2) the success of the product. The success of the process is seen from the increase of learner activity on learning German language. The success of the product is seen from the increasing mastery of German vocabulary learners. The results of this study indicate that mystery bag game techniques improve: (1) mastery of the German vocabulary for eleven graders ofSMAN 3 Banjar West Java. The average value increase was 17.89%, from 64.92 (before the action) to 82.81 (after being given the action) and (2) the learner activity for eleven graders ofSMAN 3 Banjar West Java on the learning of German language amounted to 24.73%, from 45.63% to 70.36%.
